My Priorities

for Cambridge

Build the Cambridge

We Deserve

A Cambridge for Everyone.

Practical solutions. Responsible leadership.

Measurable results.

Five priorities. One commitment

— to put Cambridge residents first.

Cambridge

Deserves Better

Prakash Venkataraman with his family in Cambridge

Cambridge is a remarkable city. We have extraordinary people, thriving businesses, vibrant neighbourhoods, and unlimited potential.

Yet too often, our residents pay more and receive less.

We contribute significantly to the Region of Waterloo — but we don't always see it returned in investment, infrastructure, services, and opportunities. Cambridge deserves its fair share, not only of the taxes collected, but of the opportunities created.

It's time for stronger representation, responsible leadership, and better results.

As your Regional Councillor, I'll be an independent voice focused on people, not politics. I'll fight for responsible financial stewardship, greater transparency, stronger partnerships, and practical solutions that improve the quality of life for every resident.

Together, we can build a Cambridge that is more affordable, more connected, safer, economically stronger, and better prepared for future generations.

A Cambridge

for Everyone

Build a stronger community where everyone can thrive.

Build a stronger community where everyone can thrive.

Prakash Venkataraman reviewing budget documents with residents

01

Taxpayers deserve to know where every dollar goes — and what value it delivers.

I will work to:

Keep property tax increases at or below the rate of inflation whenever practical

Improve transparency in Regional budgets and spending decisions

Require every major project to demonstrate measurable value before taxpayer dollars are committed

Eliminate unnecessary spending, duplication, and bureaucracy

Hold Regional programs accountable through measurable performance and results

Make responsible, evidence-based financial decisions that deliver the greatest possible value for Cambridge residents

Every budget line should be defensible. Every dollar should be accounted for.

Follow the Money

Demand accountability. Increase transparency. Eliminate waste.

Cambridge infrastructure and transit

02

Government should get the basics right before expanding into costly new initiatives.

I will advocate for:

More attainable housing for families, seniors, and young professionals

Safe neighbourhoods through strong support for public safety

Reliable, accessible, and efficient public transit

Well-maintained roads, bridges, sidewalks, cycling infrastructure, and essential utilities

Responsible growth supported by infrastructure that keeps pace with development

Efficient delivery of the Regional services residents rely on — putting their priorities ahead of political agendas

The basics aren't glamorous. But they're what people actually live with every day.

Get Priorities in Check

03

Cambridge deserves fair representation and fair investment from every Regional tax dollar we contribute.

I will advocate for:

A fair allocation of Regional funding based on Cambridge's population, growth, and future needs

Expanded GO Transit service and improved regional transportation connections

Greater investment in healthcare services and stronger support for Cambridge Memorial Hospital

Strong support for Waterloo Regional Police Service resources that keep our neighbourhoods safe

Increased investment in roads, water, wastewater, and Regional infrastructure

More parks, recreation, sports, and community facilities — including support for cricket and other growing community sports

Getting our fair share means building strong partnerships with every level of government — and being willing to negotiate hard for Cambridge at the Regional table.

Renegotiate & Right-Size

Secure Cambridge's fair share.

Cambridge families and local businesses

04

Families cannot continue carrying the entire cost of every major project through higher property taxes.

I will work to:

Attract more provincial and federal infrastructure funding to Cambridge

Pursue grants and partnerships that reduce pressure on local taxpayers

Support responsible commercial and industrial growth that broadens the tax base

Encourage investment that creates quality local jobs

Reduce unnecessary costs through smarter planning and responsible financial management

Advocate for infrastructure investments that improve quality of life while protecting affordability

The goal is straightforward — make Cambridge one of the most affordable and competitive communities in Ontario.

Improve Affordability

Make government work smarter while growing opportunity.

05

A successful city leaves no one behind.

I will support:

Seniors — through better accessibility, transportation, healthcare advocacy, recreation, and community connections

Children and youth — through education, skills training, sports, arts, leadership, and recreation opportunities

Families — by advocating for attainable housing, safer neighbourhoods, and stronger community services

Workers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses — by supporting workforce development, job creation, innovation, and investment, and by reducing unnecessary barriers

Neighbours facing hardship — through compassionate, coordinated solutions for homelessness, mental health, and addiction

Inclusive communities — where every resident feels respected, valued, and heard, and where growth creates opportunity for future generations

This is the priority the others exist to serve — and it's the promise on every one of our signs.

A Cambridge for Everyone

Building a stronger community where everyone can thrive.

Every resident matters. Every neighbourhood matters. Every voice matters

My Commitment to You

A platform is a list of intentions. This is how I'll work.

As your Regional

Councillor, I will:

Listen before making decisions — because the people closest to a problem usually understand it best

Lead with integrity, transparency, and accountability — in every vote, every budget, and every conversation

Advocate fearlessly for Cambridge's interests — even when it means being the difficult voice at the table

Collaborate to build practical solutions — with every level of government, and with anyone willing to work for Cambridge

Deliver measurable results for taxpayers — and be accountable for them

Leadership is not measured by promises.Leadership is measured by results.

Together, Let's Build the

Cambridge We Deserve

This platform isn't a wish list. It's a work plan — built on thirty years of getting things done, and twenty-six years of listening to this community.

But no councillor delivers any of it alone. It takes residents who show up, speak up, and stay involved between elections, not just during them.

If these priorities reflect what you want for Cambridge, I'd be grateful for your support.
